After Effects
After Effects CC - learning from online tutorials
This project title sequence was done using only after effects. I began by watching the tutorial I had found which is shown on the left and following the tutorial step by step while in After Effects on another tab. I had come across plenty of struggles and failures when creating this title sequence which was a little frustrating, however I managed to get there in the end and am very pleased with the outcome. The tutorial had taught me about a lot of new features in which are in After Effects and what you can do with them. I managed to change a few little settings such as the presets and the colour as I did not want to copy the tutorial exactly, I wanted to develop it in my own way.
This is the same project, following and learning from Youtube trailers in my own time, accept I felt like I could do a slightly more complex title sequence than the one before hand. This production included more presets, more layers, more colours, flares and smoke. This video had taken slightly longer than the one before as I did have to restart a few times after doing a few things wrong when trying to make this my own accept, the mistakes had taught me how to develop my projects and to know what not to do next time. I will definitely be taking the flares and smoke presets to a new level in my upcoming projects as I really like the contrasting outcome between texts or object characters and the smoke.
Animated MidKent logo in After effects
To develop my After Effects skills I completed a new project in which promotes MidKent college. I opened up a large image from google, imported into Photoshop CC, scaled and enlarged it into the graphic safe guidelines then imported it into After Effects. I downloaded a new plug-in named Saber by Video Co-pilot and had added the effect to the Photoshop file containing the MidKent logo. Overall, I am very pleased with this outcome as it has allowed me to develop my understanding of After Effects, keying, plug-ins and Photoshop which I could further develop into another project. The first video is my first attempt of using this plugin and the second video is my second attempt in which was more successful as the words MidKent College was not deleted and I was able to key the layers, reverse the time of the layer and change the preset of the applied plugin.

For my moving text project, I used a reveal technique and 3D axis technique which allowed motion text more simple, easy and stunning. I learnt a few steps from the tutorials on the left and I adapted my knowledge by changing a few settings. I changed the colours, so I was able to have my chosen coloured background and text, and finally I changed the font and animated the text in my chosen way, so I was able to call the project my own. I learnt a little motion graphics, a little 3D, I expanded my knowledge on keying and finally learnt more about layer masks. I am still only at the beginning stages of After Effects so by expanding my knowledge in several other areas, allowed me to have better outcomes and techniques that I am able to use for my next projects. So far I am really loving After Effects CC and Premiere Pro CC as I am learning more and more about video editing and how this may be applied to the media.

Here is a further experiment of sound wave experimentation, 3D rotation and the saber plug-in. For this project, I have experimented further by using further features such as the saber plug in and has made my overall outcome look more professional. I enjoyed experimenting with this very much.
The Interrogation - The clapper board project
The idea of this project was to develop our knowledge on what a Clapper board is and how it is used. I learnt what each part on the clapper board means and what is usually written there, I then learnt how you would use a clapper board in video productions. The visuals and audio clips were recording separately using a video camera and a boom mic. I would say that overall, this project turned out to be a success as I was able to sync up the audio and visuals when editing as the clapper board allowed me to know which clips were which. We also said what was on the clapper board for the audio clips to be named.
