Further inspirational products relating to final idea.

This product shown above is a short film about a man suffers with Bipolar Disorder. The name of this product is 'BIPOLAR || SHORT FILM' and this is produced by 'reduxproductions'.

I think this product has been created by using a gimbal, stabilisation frame around camera for tracking movement, tripods and handheld camera movement. It is showing the day to day life of an ordinary man. He looks the same, does the same, has the same daily routines. The colour grading shows how he is different from others. How he looks upon the world differently and how he has different feelings.

This has been created potentially using just Premiere Pro CC or Final Cut Pro to stitch together the clips for the sequence. The basic colour grading could be done by simply using Premiere Pro CC, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve. This production looks professional because of the creativeness and thought processes that went behind each camera shot, angle and movement. You can see that each shot has meaning behind what is happening and how the director wants the audience to feel.

The beginning title sequence really helped me with the research into my final product as I was able to see an example of what I could create. I can see that the title sequence has meaning and connotations to it as the title 'BIPOLAR' is in capital letters by sized different for effect. The effect shows that Bipolar can be all over the place in various different shapes and forms. The fact that the title glitches over the screen and flashes, symbolises the rapid changes within the patient who has bipolar. Showing Bipolar can be all over the place and is very hard to deal with.

This link shown above, is another product that has provided me with the knowledge of how Bipolar works and affects its victims. For me, both the director and producer of my product, it is very important for me to be able to connect with the audience who watches my product. I need my product to be simple, easy to understand for all ages and not just my target audience, I need it to be entertaining while providing the viewer with information and making the audience aware of the affect from mental health disorders. If the actors in shot feel ad breath as the actor they are playing, the audience will find that they are more emotionally involved in what they are seeing. They will be able to connect on an emotional level and they will be able to reflect upon what they are seeing and hopefully have a impact on their daily lives from seeing what I am going to create. This affect is very important to create. As the director, I want my audience to feel as though they can connect to my product by feeling the emotional bounces of energy throughout the main character, whether this relates to their own lives or not. They should feel connected with what is going on. This product has inspired me by showing the real life affects and changes of a patient going through the Bipolar Disorder.

The friend of the patient states; 'boy, you've got a really ugly personality going on' the patient then states 'yeah I do, you bring it out in me'. She then says ' I don't think so' and he replies; 'yup you do'. He says 'I'm not like this with other people'. Reflecting on these statements, we see that the boy changes personalities between different people he is around. Meaning his personality could change with weather, mood, environment or people. This is abnormal behaviour as the majority of people do not find that their whole personality changes within a change of event. This is what I will be showing in my final product when encountering dialogue, POV shots and main events including the main character; Sophie who has bipolar.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmv6wFoQtpM - My Struggle With Bipolar Disorder. | HeyThereImShannon

These three links shown above, are short documentaries about different points within Shannon's life. The first link shows what Bipolar Disorder is and how she struggles with it. As an audience, we can clearly see that she is currently struggling with the disorder that she has. She talks about her real life scenarios of what is currently happening, how it started and how she potentially deals with it at this time. This helps with my project due to seeing how she created these diary entries of herself. In the second product, we see that she has different hair, a different style and is in a completely different mod. As if she is a new person. The product before, you could never see her wearing the outfit she is further wearing in the second link. However due to the personality change, hair style and colour change, the new outfit suits the new her. She has decided to shave her head which is a very big change for her and she seems to be excited about this. The final product shows Shannon in her new circumstances. Again, she has a new hair colour and style, new clothing style and another new Shannon. In this last product, we see that she severely regrets making the decision of shaving her head. This is interesting because we get to see how her different personalities has an impact on her every day life.

These three products have inspired my research into creating my product by acknowledging how I may exactly create video diary entries of the main character; Sophie and how her emotional wave lengths are going to impact the audience. This needs to be realistic and thought out carefully in case the audience begins to have wrong implications.

To summarise my relating product analysis, I have been able to gather inspiration of different ways in which I can convey the mental health disorder; Bipolar. I was able to see the affects in which it has on people, who the families and friends of the patient may be affected, the difficulties and daily stress that a person dealing with this disorder will have, and how this can be shown throughout a creative media production. I gathered inspiration for the way the short films or daily vlogs are shot, the title sequence for my product, the realisation included within the short film and what imagery this creates in the viewer's mind.
