Reflection on my video presentation
To evaluate my research, I believe that my project was a success. I think that my project is effective as it includes information about how Gabriele has achieved the awards that he has achieved throughout his life as a director and how he has got there. I also think that anyone who reads through my project would understand why I believe he is such a successful director as they may also be inspired by him. I have chosen to be different by picking Gabriele as my media hero, as I did not want the same director or media hero as other people. I wanted someone from the industry to be my personal hero because I like the films he has directed and how he may have directed them.
I have produced a video presentation of my media hero to summarise over all of my research. To do this, I created a video recording of myself and edited it on premier pro. This allows me to add a video of myself as the background with added images with transitions. I created 8 different recordings of myself on the video presentation and made a script for each clip of what I will be saying. I looked through all of my research and decided to split it into the 8 clips for 8 different sections of my research about Gabriele so that I knew what the slide was going to be about. I then wrote a script on Microsoft word, including 8 big paragraphs that will be split into the 8 clips on premier pro. I numbered the paragraphs according to the clip number then opened up the photo booth application on my mac and decided to film my self while reading out my script from Microsoft word. This took quite a few hours to do as something kept going wrong in each clip, however I got there in the end and I was happy with the final clips. I then dragged each clip into premier pro and added photographs and text to the clips in order to look more interesting. Finally I added many transitions between each clip with added text, images and videos demonstrating what I am talking about.
Overall, I was very happy with my video presentation as it did take me long time to do. When planning my video presentation, I originally wanted to do something very different and original like creating my own character on a website that mimes the script that I give it to look more professional as the character would not stutter or make mistakes. However it did not go as planned as a lot of the websites you had to pay for and the characters ended up as a cartoon which I did not like. Instead of doing something very different and spontaneous, I decided to stick with the basic on premier pro but add transitions to look professional. I do believe that if I had the resources such as a green screen or software that allows me to make a character to mime my script then I would have created something a little more animated. The only problem was that I did not have the resources therefore instead of using green screens or adobe after effects for animation, I used premier pro with the camera on my laptop.
If I had the chance to do another video presentation and I had the resources then I feel that I would have been able to create a much more interesting presentation to engage the audience.
My research project was conducted by several websites online and public surveys. The surveys allowed me to know what the audience think of my media hero and the web allowed me to gather his personal information and details. I also found plenty of inspiring points about Gabriele and the career role he plays through his films, the web and other peoples opinions.
