Initial ideas of progression routes for this project:

Idea 1: Digital Graphics Design

Digital Graphics - Lego Poster

Shown below are the second posters I have experimented with after the posters starring the Lego characters. I decided to create these posters due to not officially owning the poster I made before as I got all of the images from Google Images rather than creating something myself.

I wanted to do something with the symbol of Lego bricks as this is what should be symbolising the company rather than Lego characters as Lego characters may not necessarily be the whole concept of the product. The company Lego is all about building and creating rather than just Lego people. I think that this poster will connect much more with the audience due to symbolising what the company is rather than making the poster look good. It will be more beneficial to the young audience due to them recognising the logo to what it is thats called Lego.

History of Graphics Design

*For copyright purposes, I am not claiming anything to be mine. Lego was my fake client for this project and I had used their logo and an image from google to create my poster with.*

Shown to the left, is my wallpaper experiment within my side project: Lego.

What does wallpaper experiments have to do with this project subject?

Well, the reason I had decided to try out wallpaper/wrapping paper designs for Lego was because I already had an design of how I would want it to look. The whole point of the Lego project aspect, is to experiment within the Graphics Design field. So, because I already had an idea of how I wanted it to look in my head already, I decided to go with it and see if it will work rather than planning even further for potential wallpapers.

I created this by originally having one Lego character with the logo inside. I duplicated this twice to get three characters on a landscape page, and finally I duplicated the three characters twice to the left with two more columns underneath. I then experimented a couple times with the colour and here are three of those experiments. I personally believe that the green looks the best out of the final outcomes because it is not too dark or too light. It gives colour to the wrapping paper, making it fun and interesting while being able to see the character and brand name clearly. It works very well in my opinion, better than black and better than pink which is too light. Something I learnt is that if the colour is too bright and the logo is white, it is hard to see or stand out due to is blending in with the white.

Overall, I am pleased that I experimented with the wrapping paper idea, as it has given me more experimentation with design and it has given me an idea of which colours go wit which when design for a target audience.

Something that really helped me with this experiment is one of my research blogs I made during the first year of my college course. Reading and watching the videos in this, gave me more of an isight into how I can match the colours and draw in the readers attention. After all, the design aspects are all about the looks. Whether the target audience will be intrigued or not.

The left poster is one of the first initial posters I created for the company. However, it needed to be tweaked slightly in order for it to better. For example, I did not like how tiny the borders were. I felt that the borders needed to be much thicker and cartoon like rather than very thin. Where the circle is as well, needed to be tweaked due to the two little sticking out parts of the lego brick being out of proportion from the last lego sticking out part of the brick and all the other bricks. The all need to be proportioned the same as that is how they are manufactured. Even though some lego bricks are purposely different and longer, this type of brick should all be the same as Lego doe snot make every brick unique. The poster below on the right with the border, is my next upgrade to the poster.

If I were to adapt the poster on the right, I would tweak the tall stack in the middle as it looks a bit out of place and weird, and I would try to make the little sticking out parts on the bricks bigger due to them being small from the borders. I tried changing this but because they all have thick white borders. I would have to change the layout of the bricks completely due to them being covered up by another bricks border.

How does Lego Posters relate to my specialist study?

I have decided that although I love visual effects, there are other subjects that I like just as much except I have not had practice at them. For example, not many people know just how much I love graphics and designing posters with the aspects of social awareness because I do not tend to practice it much due to not having experience or much knowledge about it.

It is clear to see that I love video editing and the after effects stages, but maybe if I practice some digital graphics using Photoshop, maybe I might discover that I like digital graphics more? this process is all about me experimenting with new ideas and skills. I made a quick mind map on digital graphics as it did come to mind when coming up with ideas for my study, I think looking a little more in depth into this idea, will help me know whether I would rather do graphics or visual effects for my specialist study.

Why a lego character?
Originally, I started trying to make a poster out of lego bricks rather than a lego man, however, it just didn't feel right to me no matter how much I experimented with it. You can see me experimenting with this on my second screen recording. I first had the idea of trying to make letters out of all the lego bricks and maybe turn it into a word but it didn't look great as a final product. Therefore, I tried to re-arrange them and maybe make something else, however, it did not look professional. My final solution was to use a shadowed lego character.

So, why Lego Posters?

Well, one subject that came up within my initial mind map process was social awareness. I briefly discussed about social awareness and how I would like to look more into this industry in my 5 minute powerpoint presentation.

So, I wanted to create a poster that connects with the target audience for the company 'Lego'. The age range for the company Lego is 3-4. For the original bricks made by the company. The sets that Lego has brought out, where you follow the step by step guide to building big projects, have slightly higher age ranges such as 5-6.

The Lego logo, uses two of the three primary colours to stand out to the young targeted audience. Lego wanted to go down the route of being plain and simple so kids would easily recognise the company, and they wanted to be somewhat colourful to stand out to young people. The logo shown below is the newest up to date logo that the company has made.

Screen Recordings of editing:

During this first screen recording, I began making my first posters on Lego with the Lego character as the main focal point on the poster.

How did I get to this idea?

I got to this idea through a lot of experimentation with lego bricks as the main focal point. When I realised that the Lego bricks did not look right or connect with the poster, I decided to have a different focal point such as a lego character to relate to the brand instead. I soon realised that after experimenting a little with this and attaching the logo to it, it looked far more professional than just the logo bricks. This poster would have been better if I drew the lego character myself on Photoshop or Illustrator rather than getting the image off Google.

This screen recording shows my initial experimentation with lego bricks that I had also got from Google Images. This is me changing the ratio, colour, shadows etc. to try and make them look like my centre piece for the poster. After this did not work, was when I tried experimenting with the lego character. I thought that maybe if I tried stacking or sculpting with the duplicate lego bricks, that I could create a nice model piece for the centre of the poster with the added logo in the top right hand corner.

This final screen recording was when I wanted to make something different to the outcomes of the posters with the Lego character on the front. I wanted to make my own posters without any images from Google. I wanted to make something in Illustrator which I was using for the first time and I wanted to make it from scratch without any tutorials or help. I wanted to explore the software and tools myself.

What would I of done differently with these posters if I had the chance?

I would have got the exact colour that Lego uses on their bricks and made the red that shade rather than guessing for what I think looks good. Having the exact colour and exact shades of which Lego actually uses on their branding, products and posters, would have been really beneficially to me as it would have looked like it was more connected rather than just a red. I did not think of this at the time.

I chose these basic primary colours when experimenting with my poster because I felt that it connected with the target audience of the brand. As I discussed on my final black and white Lego poster at the top, the target audience for the brand is age ranged 3-4. Sometimes it various with certain products as they are slightly harder so the age range may be 5-6. But, as a whole, the companies target audience is said to be around 3-4 years. With this in mind, I wanted my poster to be very simplistic and eye catching. Usually, with a young age audience, you want a lot of characters and colours thrown at them at once for them to be stunned and entertained. However, because the target audience for Lego is so low, I did not think that they would appreciate too much going on at once due to not understanding it. I believed that a simple logo with the big bold Lego font, would be eye catching enough for the toddlers to remember what that logo is. Or at least be able to associate it with the bricks they play with. I then thought that the bold primary colours would be easy and simple while also standing out nice and bright for them. So its not too boring and it catches their attention to want to play. This is what I was thinking when going through the experimentation stage with this product. Although, the black and white also looks professional and somewhat creative.

One other idea I did have when creating this poster, is separating the head, body, legs and feet of the lego character. This is because Lego characters, do actually separate where you ca change and customise their body parts. Although, this would have meant that I would have to draw the Lego character myself rather than getting an image off of Google.

Retro Black and White Experimentation:

Shown here are the different experimentations I went through to do with black and white. I believe black and white is simple yet stands out to be professional and creative if done accordingly. Even though the target audience is 3-4, I wanted to experiment and see if the black and white would work without other colour. My favourite is the white background with grey characters because it stands out the most without looks messy. My least favourite is the black background, grey characters and white logo because the white looks very out of place and the grey and black are too similar meaning it does not stand out enough.

Primary Colours Experimentation:

Shown here are all the different ideas I had experimented with, to do with the primary colours; red, yellow and blue. Again, I felt that I should experiment further and take a look into the primary colours due to them connecting with the targeted audience. I experimented in every way I thought was possible but I think that my favourite outcome was the blue background and white characters with the blue Lego logo. I just believe that this image is pleasing to the eye as it is bright and stands out and I think that the young target audience would appreciate it. My least favourite is the yellow edits because it does not go well with the white background. It looks a little distracting and not professional. Even though young kids would not care about professional, it is more satisfying and pleasing to the eye when something looks somewhat professional. Not just to young kids but to adults too. It will make the adults like the product more due to it looking professional. It makes the product look reliable.

Black/ coloured Background Experimentation:

With this experiment, I took a look at having a different coloured background rather than just plain white. I took a look into what it may look like if I changed the way it was originally displayed. This worked well with some images more than others. For example, the black background with the pastel green characters works well because the pastel green stands out from the black background. The black and pastel green poster is my favourite because I think the colours connect accordingly. The black and pastel yellow on the left looks good, better than dark yellow because pastel is a lot more subtle looking which is pleasing to the eye. My least favourite is the red background images with yellow and blue characters with black writing. I found that it was too many colours and was very distracting. If a logo, poster or advertising is not pleasing to the eye, people find that they do not want to look at it meaning they have got nothing from it. The poster would be a failure due to not attracting its intended audience. You also need to make sure that the colours on the product match on the colour wheel or this will not be pleasing to the eye.

Tom Whalen Research:
Screen Recording of me researching Tom Whalen:

The video shown on the left is the screen recording I have made not only for proof of my work, but to also be able to look and reflect upon what I have done so that I will be able to look back and see how I created a certain type of look or to see how I did something in Photoshop or Illustrator. This poster above was completely made in Illustrator but for some projects such as the Monsters, INC poster, I used Photoshop and Illustrator due to Illustrator not having the paint bucket tool or magic wand which I use a lot.

One other thing I decided to change about my initial poster, was that the bricks edges and sticking out bits, should be square rather than rounded. I changed this because the bricks are being looked at from a side view on which is why they are not 3D. Because this is the case and they look 2D, it should be square rather than rounded.

Shown above, is another one of my initial edits for my Lego poster. I have decided to show this alongside one of my inspirational artists that I have researched, because this is what had influenced me. This initial edit has the little sticking out bits on the bricks, joined on the main body of the brick. It is bolder and thicker and there is not a gap or outline between the bits on the bricks and the main body of it. I personally, did not really like the outcome of this on the poster as I much prefer having the outlines in between the body of the brick and the little parts of the brick. I feel that it has a better finalised look to it rather than it being joined. Even though the brick in person is joined and does not have an outlined gap, it looks better on the person for young children.

What I really like about these inspirational images, is how professional yet simplistic they are. Everything down to the colour, really fits the target audience, style of the company and fits the nature of the poster. The fact that it says 'Made In Denmark' and the Lego bricks are red and spaced out to look like the Denmark flag, also goes really well with the poster. We see the brand logo, so we know what it is, we see Lego bricks to represent the brand, we see that the artist has got the exact colour that Lego uses for his poster so the poster is not guessed, it is the exact tone and shade of red that Lego uses. This inspired me greatly.

Who is Jim Warner?

Jim Warner is a 18 year old, year 2 level 3 Graphics Design student from MidKent college. He is a World Skills silver medalist and he currently takes commissions from his graphics Instagram account for people whom want to hire him for logos and designs for their businesses. He did a level 2 course in Graphics Design and has a lot of his best work up on his graphics Instagram account for part of his portfolio for university in September. I currently have connections with Jim through Facebook and Instagram which allows me to ask open questions about his work that I am very inspired by. Due to him also being my age, inspires me more due to him being passionate and determined in the Graphics Design field that he wants a career in. His work inspires me greatly.

Shown here, is the advertising of the poster. It has been enlarged and put up for display for the public to see. It also allows us to see what the poster looks like from a distance and in a different location. It is always important for you to test out your product with the public and in public locations. This allows for you to see your product in a whole new light.

From this, I had the idea of printing out a final design or poster with questions on the back for the public to see and answer. This will be the beginning of my primary research.

The most important thing that I learnt from these images shown from this artist, was that experimentation is what makes the final product what it is. If you fail to experiment, have fun and cover every possible idea or combination their is within your product, then you have not yet finished. Whether you are set on one idea or not for your final product, you may then make a mistake or try something new and end up loving it even more then that original idea you thought you were stuck with. Experimentation shows you have covered every area, you are interested and passionate about what you are doing and that you for sure have the best possible outcome.

What do I like most about this final image?

I like that the artist used the exact colours and shades that Lego uses rather than just making up a shade himself. This is what I will be feeding forward for when I make a product. I will be colour picking the exact colour used by the products from the company. This looks and sells the company a lot better due to it matching. I like how bright the colours are and how they contrast with the dark thick outline. The outline can look almost anything look good. This has taught me to not be afraid of experimenting and putting borders or bright colours on things. There is no wrong answer it is all down to interpretation.

The only thing I dislike about the image is how the Lego logo is hidden in the bottom row of the bricks where it can not be seen. It is not centred which is slightly off putting but I do not feel it is needing on the poster anyway as it looks slightly out of place. Overall, I love the poster.

I like how the artist has kept it simple by using only the red the company uses and black. Black contrasts with any colour and especially stands out with this red. I like the design and creation of the lego character here and I especially like how the writing is red within the black character and reversed where 'Denmark' is black on the red background. The only thing I would have done differently, is made the poster turn 90 degrees left so that the character is standing upright rather than on the side. I feel like this would make more sense.

I personally love the posters shown above because of their originality, simplicity and professionalism of how they portray the company they are designed to portray. I believe they fit right in with the target audience due to the exact colour used with the companies product and the design of how they are laid out, which makes the company easily recognisable. For example, the black lego character in the far left poster with the overlapping colour in the background and white writing saying 'Lego' and 'play well' as the tagline, makes the writing stand out and the character stand out which means the company is easily recognisable by seeing the main object of what the company is. Even if someone did not know what Lego is, they can gather what it is by how the poster is looking childish, colourful and toy oriented. This matches the target audience's needs.

I find these products inspirational by how the colours connect with each other. We can see that the target audience is clearly aimed towards younger teenagers/ kids because the colours are so bright. I like how he has also mixed some of the colours eg pink with yellow, for it to stand out a lot more so younger people will remember the name and recognise the product. You can also see the clear divisions between each flavour.

Again, I like that you can see the clear divisions between colour and flavour, I like the bands on the bottom, top and lower third of the can that says the flavour and fizz so that it gives more of an indication into the type of fizzy drink it is. Finally, I love the pattern on each can. It stands out, its creative yet it looks professional like a real company has come together and thought deeply about it. I also like that the opening of the can is the same colour of the flavour of the drink.

This last product made by this artist, inspires me because of how simplistic and professional the logo looks. The shade of blue that the logo has in the background, makes sense because of the kind, professional company that it is. It also makes the white show up very well.

The text and the symbol work because of the professional yet creative style the symbol is. It connects very well.

I like the style that the symbol is because it works with the company. Students are going to be a little lost, confused and will have a lot of questions when not knowing what to do or how to be when finding employment. It is the business's job to maybe ask them questions about themselves and find them employment that is suited to them.

I think the design of this logo really works well and makes sense with the business.

This is a mood board that I made to show all of my favourite pieces of work that this artist has done so far during his college course. These pieces are relevant to the practice pieces of work I have done and may also be relevant within my final FMP. I like how creative and professional they are. There is some true talent here and that is what inspires me the most.

Shown here is a random mood board that I have put together using Powerpoint. They are all images that I had found on Google images when putting in the term 'poster illustrations'.

The ones I liked the most which is shown here are simplistic, professional and creative, I found had connections to them. My favourite images that was busy, was by the same artist. The Lion King poster, busy Lego poster and vintage Mickey Mouse poster, was all by the same artist 'Tom Whalen' whom was my next artist research.

This next mood board that I have created is my beginning of my research for this artist. I found that Tom has a very distinct style with his illustrations as they are usually always using the same yellow shaded background colour, the characters are very colourful and the posters are busy with images with only a small bit of text which is the title.

I instantly fell in love with his style of work because of how captivating it is to look at.

Next, I decided to take screenshots when looking at posters on his website. I like the layout and colour scheme of his website because it works and it is creative. The orange and the black goes very well together, the colours match the logo and several posters and the plain top and bottom headings are plain which makes the business of his work stand out in the centre.

While having a young target audience meaning childish and cartoon-like posters, he has managed to keep that professionalism feel to his website for any job offers he may receive from looking at his work.

Because Tom's portfolio is very large, I  decided to take a screen recording and make a time-lapse of me looking through his work and finding my favourite pieces of work. I enjoyed doing this as it showed me a lot about having your own style, experimenting, taking risks and having fun. We can see his enthusiasm for his work and that makes it all the more enjoyable to look at due to it having a lot of time and energy spent on it.

Idea 1 - Digital Graphics Design

Proposal for this idea:
Monsters, INC. Poster
Final Edit:

Leading on from being inspired by Tom Whalen, I decided to create more posters and illustrations myself by creating a Monster's inc. poster. Even though I have used png images of the fonts and characters, the project gave me insight into the colour wheel and what colours work well together, alignment and what works well and finally, finishing touches. How a simple little paint bucket tool and brush can neaten up edges, sharpen pictures and bring images forwards or backwards. It also taught me a lot more about the softwares; Photoshop and Illustrator. I loved the practice as it is what I enjoy. I do not claim for any of the images or fonts to be my own.

What I like most about this final poster I have created, is the colour scheme and positioning. The shade of blue is the exact blue that the film uses within his logos and promotions. Because the film is aimed towards young children, the poster needs to also be childish to attract this target audience. Having the background blue, looks less boring and plain and more fun-filled.

The white on the blue also looks good as it shows up easily to read quickly.

Lastly, I think that the positioning of the characters and text really makes the poster what it is. I have tried plenty of different positions and made different re-makes of the poster but what made ms stuck with the font and characters in the places that they are, is the fact that the title stands out being in front of the main character. I like that the main character goes slightly off the sides and is big showing the centre piece. I also like how there is little text due to children mainly being entertained by pictures and colour. Thats why this poster works the best.

Final outcome:

I believe that experimentation is key throughout any project. It is key to make plenty of mistakes that you are able to learn from in order to have better outcomes. Experimentation within the editing as my favourite part which is why I have made so many versions of the poster. I did not stop making re-makes until I was fully satisfied with the outcome I made. Even if the slightest thing was off putting or distracting, I decided to make another version and export it due to the distractions taking over the poster. Especially as I have never done this before, it has taught me just how important it is to make re-makes and mistakes due to being able to learn from them.

One other thing that I decided to change last minute on my posters, is that having the text in one colour helps neutralise the poster as different font and colour of text maybe distracting.

Here are all the images and png's that I got from typing in 'Monsters inc.' in Google images. After this, I imported them all into Photoshop where I created my posters. Because this project was just experimentation, it was okay to use other images that was not mine due to it only being practice. These posters are not my final products.

I have decided to take a screenshot during editing for proof that I have edited this poster. I will also be able to look back at these screenshots and see the layers and order of which I have done things.

A tip I have for the next time I create a poster is to do my own shading and colour grading during the edit. For example, I could get a brush and make it black with low opacity and shade in dark ares and bright areas with the colours white, to be able to make the poster more realistic and 3D.

These images were found on Google images by typing in 'Monsters inc.'

The top two images are posters created by Disney themselves and the bottom one is from my favourite artist; Tom Whalen.

I believe it is good to look back and compare my poster illustration to the ones that Disney has already to created so I can see how they differ and how mine could be improved. I researched these posters after I created mine because I did not want to copy in any way, I wanted to have my own ideas first. Therefore I researched other posters after.

I like how simplistic the posters by Disney are. They are easily recognisable and professional which would look good as a poster in the cinema. The posters have only one or a couple characters from the film, the font is the same and matching colours and the characters have shadows from the to look 3D and stand out.

My favourite poster is the top right with one character on because I like how the character is wearing 3D glasses which matches what the text is saying.

I like this last poster of my inspirational artist because it is different, colourful and creative and I believe that the target audience will love it. It will intrigue young kids to watching the film if seen in the cinema even if they have never heard of the film. The cartoon-like characters and colours go well together and make it more interesting. The shadowing also gives the characters edge.

The Emoji Movie Poster:
Landscape Outcomes:

I decided to create posters for the Emoji Movie because my friend told me about how the film was not that successful. We was talking about films when she mentioned that this particular film did not happen to be as popular as it was supposed to be. I asked why and she did not know but instantly, I had the idea of creating posters for it due to it not being so successful and the fact that the main characters are cartoon-like emojis. I like the style in which the characters are created like and I believe that I would instantly be able to arrange them to look well on a poster.

With the block coloured background experiment, I learnt that in order to create a advertisement or promotional product for a client, the colours need to match and flow. You should always use the correct colours and shades that they use on their products and you should not guess or it will look out of place. On this poster for instance, I should use a more neutral colour used within the characters. It would make more sense.

As you can see here, I have took that information on board by making a neutralised background by the pale wall and the title of the film a colour by using the colour picker tool on the characters use at the bottom of the poster.

I wanted the title to be bright and visible while matching the characters and background.

I first starting by using the colours blue and pink, until I thought about the colours being too connecting to gender. At a young age, we connect the colour pink to be for a girl and the colour blue for a boy. Children grow to believe that these colours are for these particular genders therefore boys may not find a title coloured pink very intriguing and girls will not find a blue title very interesting. Therefore, I began exploring unisex colours to attract both genders.

The poster is supposed to attract a young target audience which means it is okay for the colours to stand out.

I found that the colours brown ad yellow went far better with the poster than blue and pink. They connect better with the characters and stand out so the title is easy to read.

In some of the posters and advertisements, the Emoji Movie, uses this title in a speech bubble. I tried downloading and adding this to a few of my posters to see what effect it gives.

After I decided that the colour yellow really works with the title, I decided that it was such a light colour that it blends too much with the pale background. Therefore, I decided to experiment with a dark outline and shadow.

If I were to do this again, I may experiment using a different colour on the outline and made it thick and cartoon-like.

I also experimented with one character, 3 and more to see what works best with the poster.

Drop Shadow and Outline Experiment:

Because I thought the outline worked so well earlier, I decided to experiment with that further and try out drop shadows to see what effect it gives. I made the drop shadow dark and broad and with low opacity too.

I think that the darker drop shadow which is the first one, works the best due to blending in more with the outline rather than having low opacity drop shadow with a dark outline. It needs to blend more.

Portrait Outcomes:

Here, I decided to take the brush tool with the colour black and lower the opacity slightly to give shades. I then increased the brush size and hid all layers apart from the background image. I shaded over the whole image a few times to make it slightly darker. I then made the title colour brighter by using the paint bucket tool. This makes it stand out. I also decided to tilt the title to give it that fun edgy style. Having the character in front of the title also, draws the attention to her making the poster look interesting before the audience looking to read the title.

Experimenting with the posters being portrait and landscape orientation, allowed my experimentations to go further. Because the characters are portrait, I thought it would be a good idea to do some portrait posters making one or two characters stand out.

The reason I like this poster on the left is because of the colour scheme between the character, background and title. It works because of how textured and pale the background is, it makes the bright character stand out in the centre of the page. The title being the same colour as the characters eyebrows, is pleasing to look at due to the main image and main title being able to connecting. It is visually appealing for the audience.

Images I have used to create the posters:
How I created the posters:

These are the images and png's that I have used to create my posters with. I found them on Google Images by typing in 'The Emoji Movie'.

I created the posters by using the 1080p tv ratio background. This allows you to have guidelines in which will be what the audience see on different ratios such as tv and tablets. This allowed me to keep my product within the guidelines.

I then made some of the images png by selecting the character I want with the selection tool, going to select and inverse then deleting or erasing the background. I then made multiple layers with multiple characters and arranged them to what I was happy with.

Primary Research

Chatham Town Centre - Blue inc. (Lego posters)
Bluewater - The Body Shop
Bluewater - Boots
Bluewater - H. Samuel
Bluewater - Disney

To start off my primary research, I decided to take some pictures of poster designs that was next to the counter in Blue inc.

I decided to take these pictures in relation to the little Lego poster project I did, to compare designs that have actually been published compared to ones I did.

Comparing this Lego poster to my poster designs I did, this poster is far more colourful and well put together than ones I had done. There is no background on this, it is simply just the Lego product bricks that are coloured in the exact shades that Lego bricks are. The poster is simple and would look great in a frame.

I think it is good to look at other products out there in shops and places because it allows me to acknowledge other peoples designing ways. It also gives me other ideas of how to build and do things for the future.

For this shoot, I went to Bluewater to take some photos of different posters, advertisements, promotions, leaflets and any branding styled wrapping paper, stickers or signs that sticks out in multiple shops where you can identify what shop they are by the branding. For example, the bold font that is in the logo of the body shop, is plastered all in the inside of the shop too. Where it says 'love your body', '3 for 2', and even 'half price'. This text, green and black interior and modern feel that we see inside this shop, is the unique design for this shop. If this shop were in different areas such as Chatham, the shop and interior would look exactly the same. Some of the products may be arranged slightly differently but as a whole, the shop would look the same because the colour scheme is what the audience recognise in connections to this brand. This is what I will need to think deeply about when doing the branding for mine and my mums business. What colours would match the products and will the colour scheme and interior be easily recognisable? what will make our shop different from others?

Boots was another good example to capture the branding and promotions for. The logo is placed everywhere in this shop so you can relate the blue text to the blue background in the logo. It is all using the same font and it is what makes the shop unique. An example of this is the text hanging from the ceiling saying 'opticians', 'electrical', 'photo', gifts. The banners saying half price and bargains in are also using the same font and colours of either white or blue. Everything in the shop is spaced out and has different sections. This is what the customers will look for in every Boots shop. It creates a sense of professionalism if the branding is the same, logo is simplistic and everything is laid out in its correct areas. It makes people want to buy items from the shop more because it is organised, spacious and branded well.

My next comparison is H. Samuel. Because this shop is a jewellers, it should follow the typical 'classy' theme because it is high class. Whereas, Boots is just a shop that sells everything. Boots sells more day to day cheap products, it has a more relaxed and chilled vibe to it. H. Samuels is not cheap, it has only expensive quality products in which means the shop needs branding that sells class, professionalism and elegance. It can not look casual because the products should not typically be worn on a casual day.

The shop has followed these requirements by keeping the branding plain and simple. The counters are white and glass to show the products. The lights are very white with no shadows. Immediately you feel the elegance taking place in the shop and it makes the customer want to be quite and careful because it seems expensive. This is a completely different feel in comparison to Boots.

The branding is red which stand outs. The same white writing intrigues us because discounts are always a good sign in an expensive shop because it makes it that bit more affordable.

The fact that there is a yellow strip that highlight the words 'all diamonds', also intrigues us into the elegance and expensive look of the products. Even the banners have been made simple and classy by having 50% discount written on them and a few images shown next to the bit of writing. Nothing too creative to keep the expensive feel. We indicate the target audience is aimed towards business adults around the age range of 25-35.

For Disney, the requirements are on the complete end of the scale to a shop like H. Samuel.

We can tell that Disney's target audience is far younger than H. Samuel because of how colourful and bold everything is. Immediately, we get that playful, fun and humour feel to the shop instead of elegance. Disney does not intend to look professional or elegant, it intends to intrigue young children into buying cuddly toys from their favourite characters that they may have seen in the Disney films or on tv. The shop is bursting with colour, the text is white with a blue background and it is bold and plain. By the way the banners also say 'magical offers', it not only intrigues parents into cheap discounts, but the children to because of the word magical. The 'who's your favourite character' section will intrigue kids into it all being fluffy, action packed and colourful. Just having lots of toys and faces all in one place will intrigue kids due to it being fun. Plenty of the toys and branding has smiley faces which are a lot more welcoming than somewhere like a jewellers. The kids will feel more free to run around and want to talk to the workers because they look more colourful and approachable in a children's mind because they do not look professional even though they are at work.

For Foot Locker, the design aspects are not as childish as Disney, but not as elegant as H. Samuel. They have decided to go for the red, black and white themed shop to give off that sporty, fitness type of look. Because the shop is called 'Foot Locker' people automatically assume that the shop basis itself around sports and shoes because of the lighting and interior design. The sleek black walls makes the shoes stand out more  due to being bright coloured. The spotlights in the ceiling create that potentially professional atmosphere as the shoes are made to look more than just a shoe. They are very expensive in the design aspects of each shoe which makes the audience intrigued by the shop having different glass cabinets showing different designs and colour that are new. I would say that the target audience for this shop would be around 16-25. Even though the designs are supposed to be for professional sports use, teenagers also are intrigued by each designs of the shoe too. Not always for sports use but for casual use too. This teaches us a lot about how colours and designs changes ones mind on a shop.

Again, the Lego shop is designed for young children which is clear from the entrance. The entrance to a shop, the advertising, promotional materials and all of the products that the audience see before the final products, is the most crucial part of the business due to this being the first impression the audience make.

Because Lego is aimed towards young children, the colour scheme with the logo is red, yellow, black and white. The title Lego easily stands out and appeals to children. The main entrance to the Lego shop is a big dragon made from Lego bricks. The dragon's body also goes around the corners of the ceiling inside the shop too. There is also a giant lego man made out of tiny lego bricks inside the shop also. These pieces of art as well as framed lego structures in glass, sets the whole theme of lego due to the shop being visually stunning.

The whole floor and walls of the shop is yellow which is the typical colour of most lego bricks. We can tell that lego is made for children due to the childish nature of colour, lego structures and fun activity of building.

I like how each and every lego box is structured the same with the logo in the top left hand corner with the age rating in black and bold underneath with different packaging numbers and the name of the lego structure that is in the box. The structure of what is contained in the box is shown on the box cover which intrigues the child into wanting to build that structure.

This is what sells the lego products because even though there are different lego bricks and things you can buy to build different structures, the packaging is always somewhat the same so it can be recognised.

I also took plenty of pictures of the different lego bricks in pick and mix. I did this because it made some cool photos and it allows me to collect this primary research of the different shapes, sizes and coloured bricks there are to potentially make advertisements for lego, while re-creating these designs in Photoshop or Illustrator.

You can see the clear playful atmosphere as you walk into the shop with the bright bold colours. The toys and the extremel packed covers on the boxes of toys gives the shop a childish nature.

Bluewater - Foot Locker
Bluewater - Lego
Bluewater - Lush
Bluewater - Random Advertisements

Advertisements from screen near escalators for Dove and McDonalds, Gravity posters in random locations, Bills Restaurant, Smoothie menu list

Lush is the main shop that I needed to go in, in Bluewater. This is because my graphics and visual effect idea is based around the bath bomb business me and my mum run. Therefore, it would be helpful if I not only looked at posters, logos and advertisements of other businesses to compare target audience but to research at least one that is relevant business wise. Because we are a bath bomb and soap business, I wanted to take a look into Lush whom is our big competitor in the industry.

The first row of images shows what the shop looks like from the outside. To entice people in. To me, it looks very busy, very colourful and professional by how all the tags naming what the products are, are in the same colour size and font. I like how the big poster also shows all the products are natural and non animal tested meaning they are good for your body which people will love.

I have also noticed how some of the bath bombs are branded. Where the lush writing stands out in the centre of the bath bomb.

You can see how the creators have also matched the name with the colour and shape of the bath bomb so it makes sense. For example, 'Dragon's Egg'. The bath bomb is white and very large. We associate the bath bomb being a dragon's egg because it looks like one.

Or 'Twilight'. The bath bomb is pink with lots of stars on just like a twilight.

I like how all of the font is the same. It gives a relaxed bath feel to the shop. It is funky and exciting yet still easy to read. The fact that all the cards with writing on is black contrasted with the white text, works because it stands out from the light coloured bath bombs. The cards also say a bit about each bath bomb and what they may include. Sometimes they also contain humour such as 'no dragons were harmed for this popping candy egg with mood'. It contains whit, it makes sense and the context of the writing draws you more into the product with the describing words 'popping candy'.

The colours and shapes of the bath bombs are all very individual. They all stand out individually and match their names.

Different bath bombs specialise in different thing for example some are mainly for smell, others are for your skin feeling soft, some are to cure colds etc.

In terms of packaging, lush is very bold. They did not go subtle at all. The colours are extremely bright and bold, colourful and full of patterns and designs on each one. They have not stuck to a particular theme within patterns or colour, all the designs on the packages are very different except they are all very busy. Somehow, although the designs are different, you know that they all belong to lush because of the business, colourful theme throughout. The ribbons also.

The other theme within Lush is the cosmetics and caring for your skin section. This section looks slightly more professional and less colourful than the other bath sections within Lush. It seems to be because this section has a older target audience. Young women would more likely to go for this section than anyone else because it is simple, professional, and it gives the right facts and information while keeping the same font and colours of the Lush brand.

Even the Lush tins, they are simple, sleek and stand out.

Sometimes, what Lush do is have a little cartoon picture of someone and insert there name to say they made that exact bath bomb you are purchasing. Some starts and individuals pay to do this.

Looking at the branding, packaging and graphic design aspects of this brand, I would say the target audience would be older teenagers and young adults. For the hair and beauty cosmetic section, I would say is more aimed towards young adults due to looking more professional than colourful.

They have grouped there pots, tubs and bath bombs in their very own section which will come in useful to me when me and my mum do our own stools selling our bath bombs.

I like how this company have also got their own banners and huge signs to guide the audience from section to section of the shop so it is organised. They have their own hair care section which is useful so people do not get lost within the products.

The tiled background and skin care sign looks very professional and modern.

Even the smell as you walk in, hits you because it is so mixed with lots of different scents, it wakes you up and makes you feel fresh. They have also captured this smell within colours and shapes to brighten your mood.

As a finishing touch to add to their professionalism, they even have books to show you some relaxing music to go with some of the bath bombs.

As shown on the right, I have taken pictures of the Lindt box, packaging inside and chocolate to see how they maintain their product theme for it to look professional. We can automatically see that the chocolate would not appeal to children due to the elegance of the text and images on the front. It looks like a much more sophisticated bar of chocolate whereas kids would just like any bar of chocolate they can get. The packaging inside shows maturity and elegance again by the repeated font and logo. Even the chocolate bar has the repeated logo font in the corner with strips diagonally underneath.

The random advertisements I have found around Bluewater, also entice you in due to the sprout of colour, little writing but heavy pictures. For example, the 'Gravity' trampolining posters entice you in because of the fun, busy image, the colour and big bold logo.

Screen Recording Time-lapse of Primary Research on Pinterest

As you can see above, I made a time-lapsed screen recording of myself looking through my Graphics Design board on Pinterest. I did this as part of my primary research because I wanted to first-hand see what professionals and people out there have made to do with advertising. Some products on my board may or may not be to do with bath bombs and visual effects, but, they sure did help me express different ideas and products that inspired me. Because there were so many, I decided to do a screen recording flicking through so of them so I can show you the main ideas and products that inspired me to come up with and pursue this ideas I have for my FMP. I not only looked at advertising posters, I looked at promotions, marketing products, creative advertising, leaflets and design packaging. This is what I will need to think about if following through the idea of advertising and promoting my own bath bomb business.

Here are some more products I found floating around Pinterest that I wanted to share as part of my research. The first advertising 'S.O.S.' is advertising some sort of sale. Now I have not heard of this brand or seen this poster before, but I found this poster very eye catching when I had come across it. I like the baby pink and white colour scheme the creator has gone with, I like the texture of the '10% off' and I love the tag-lines above and beneath the '10% off'. Not because of what they say but the colours and the font. Especially as a girl who loves buying new clothes, this makes me even more intrigues because it looks cute, it looks professional and it is a sale so I am intrigued before even knowing what the sale is.

For the 'let go night of worship' advertisement, I love the texture of the main title 'let go'. Because the poster is all about the night of worship, having the 'let go' text in this texture and colour makes sense because it looks like the night sky. The poster is plain, simple and effective because it makes you want to pick it up and read it by how simplistic and creative it is.

The cake of musical poster is simple and effective also. It is very easy, it is creative but it makes sense. It makes you not wanting to look away because of how cute it looks. It is a illustration of a cake but there is a piano on the side which makes sense that the title is cake of musical because the cake is an instrument.

The poster below this that says 'sleek assignment' is another example of sleek, simple and professional. I like how the white background contrasts with the dark black and the clothing of the character. The model on the front page looks like a student. She is young and is wearing young clothing which we associate with her being a student. The fact that it says assignment in big letters under her, makes us think she is a student. The words sleek at the top, fit the font also because of how thin and elegant the writing is. If I were making this poster, I would have maybe experimented with a open book that is in complete white on top of the word assignment instead of something that looks like a sailing boat.

The Go Green poster is a great example of advertising. The background being a beige colour, reminds me of dirt. This is good because going green is all about the earth and the dirt and natural environment. The text saying all natural in the centre, makes the poster come together very nicely because of the contrasting brown and green earthy colours. At the bottom i shows all the different flavours there are of the drink which entices the audience due to having multiple choice. I think the more simple the advertisement, the more effective it is depending on the target audience.

Compare and Contrast Packaging

The very long advertisement shown on the right, is very professional and creative. It fits the colours and the theme of the product. I like how the colours represent the flavour. For example, grape is purple, apple is green and strawberry is red. I like how the product is the centre piece of every photo with no shadow. I also like the look of the product laying down diagonally with the matching flavour of the colour as the background image. This may have been done using a green screen. Lastly, I love the three of the flavours in the photo with the exact distance between them. It is visually pleasing. The background image of all the flavours grouped together diagonally gives off a really nice effect. Even though some of the products are cut out of the photo, it looks well done. It fits the photo and them being diagonal also fits.

The far left advertisement is unique and creative. I like the pastel colours and the pattern. I am not too sure what the product is, because it is not in English, but the design and packaging is very well done. I can tell that the product is organic due to the seeds next to the product, the tree and the leaves on the packaging. It tells us a little bit about what the product is.

The product next to this on the bottle is made very simple. It is a lot more plain than the other products as the design is completely plain with only the title on the top half of the product with the strip of colour and pattern at the very bottom. The pastel colours and touch of black matches the font and colour of the text.

The packaging with pineapples and fruit on is also very well done. All of these packaging products are different yet they work and are all very well done. The plain white background allows the black writing to contrast. It also allows for the main fruit image to stand out showing the flavour of the drink.

Idea: The idea that this packaging has given me is to have the bath bomb image in the centre. The image will be of the bath bomb exploding showing dust and parts of the bath bomb. I may experiment with having multiple bath bomb flavours in the explosion for colour and then the writing will be elegant and simple to contrast the writing and image from the background.

Again, the product is not english but I really like the simplicity of the product. It makes the product very attractive.

Analysing the Lush packaging again, although it is very cluttered with the patterns and colour, it stands out for being a Lush package. It is unique and looks amazing in the shop. If I were to create packaging for my products, I would experiment with patterns and colour repeatedly to make the package, but I would also experiment with something a lot more simple and professional based for a slightly older target audience.

Double Exposure Advert Idea

For this idea, I may consider experimenting with double exposure. I got this idea and the images from Pinterest. The posters are advertising a holiday get away tourist location in the snowy mountains in Tennessee, America.

I like how the background of the poster is all about the calming beige colours of the sunset that has just set. The outline of the animals shows the beauty of the wilderness and the double exposure scenery inside the animals, shows the fun you can have there with campfires, walks and adventures.

The colours in the posters are pleasing to the eye because of how they compliment each other. The yellows and beiges and reds go nicely and attract the audience to the poster more because of how creative and beautiful it makes the tourist attraction look.

My favourite out of the poster creations is the bear. I like the bear double exposure because I believe it fits the best with the picture overlapping.

I also really like how they have created the leaflet for this tourist attraction. They have the main double exposure edit on the front with the title to entice the audience into reading further, they have the opposite colour scheme of dark brown with the map to show the whole tourist attraction and activities, finally inside, they have the big bold title which is the catch line and all of the needed information in paragraph form found inside. Even inside has a bushy effect with sunset background to create that whole wilderness feel.

I also like how they have made another poster that says 'holiday happenings' wit snow in the background to show the time of year. To contrast this snow, there is a nice warm campfire in the heart of the double exposed owl. This is creative and will make people want to visit even in the snow.

The Facebook page also attracts the audience by having the nice big exposed image as the headline with the logo as the profile picture. Because the background on Facebook is not portrait, it is landscape, I would have personally just done a sunset image in the background with the same colours to match. This does not look very professional as the quality has dropped due to the image being zoomed in and you can not see all of it. Apart from that, the Facebook page looks good.

So, why have I decided to add this into my primary research and why was it useful?

Well, it has allowed me to explore other ways in which I can edit and take my project. It has given me further inspiration and knowledge on how to make a poster look creative and it was fun to see these products. I have decided that I unfortunately will not being using double exposure on my posters or final product because it does not tie in with any of my ideas. For what the creator has made it for, makes sense because the animals display the feel of wilderness at the tourist attraction. However, my ideas would not make sense double exposure'd because the bath bombs, cinematography and visual effect story is pretty straight forward.

Magazine cover analysis:

At the top of my magazine images are where the target audience is very young. The further down the images you scroll, you notice that the target audience is becoming older. We notice this in the maturity of the magazines, the relevant headlines the magazine covers, the colours and the images. Potentially the font too.

The first image is of the Disney Junior magazine. We can see that this magazine is for young children due to the bright and bold colours that do not particular match but they don't need to, the big bold and childish text. The very little words and childish animation. It does not have headlines it is just what it is on the front. This will attract a very young audience.

The Mario magazine shown is still very childish but not as childish as the Disney Junior magazine because it has a lot more text, headlines, depth and colour co-ordination. A very young child would take no notice of this but a slightly older child wouldn't take much notice but would like it more due to these elements. They would be attracted to the red and would be able to read the headlines making them excited because they like Mario. They most likely have Mario the video game which means they have to be able to have some sort of co-ordination and be able to read.

Same with the Lego poster, it is still for young children but because of how much text there is, they would have to be able to read and understand. However, they are still going to be very young due to the pop art feel to the poster where it tries to grab the kids attention.

Moving on to the teenage magazines, as you can see they are much more mature than the children magazines. They are more involved with real life, keeping up with the gossip and celebrities. Children would not be interested in this. For example, the headline 'how Justin Bieber saved his career' or 'fresh fashion, beauty and gift ideas'. Teenagers would like to think they're 'cool' by keeping up with their latest hits, trends and news to do with their celebrity crushes.

Adult magazines tend to be more about life, problems and news updates. Not so much games, gossip and celebrities but more about real life for example, diabetes, cooking, pollution or fashion tips for older women. The magazines look plain and simple with the right colour co-ordination between the main image, title and headlines. There is usually always one big image of a person or food on the front. This is how we distribute the target audience for these different products.

Facts that stand out

Logo

The pomegranate and lemon Dove moisturising shower cream stood out to me because of how attractive and simple it looks. I like how all of the images and text are in a dark pink colour to match the scent and lid of the product. The only text that is not in that colour is the product title and the sticker saying 100% gentle. It makes the product look successful as if it is a well known brand. It is a well known brand but it looks it even if you did not know the brand before.

Successful products always have a lot of text on the back all in the same colour as the logo of the product. It gives you all the information needed such as ingredients, directions, different languages, how much of the item there is and partnerships the brand has.

The images shown on the left is still by Dove but is a slightly different scent to the other one. It is coconut milk and jasmine. I like how Dove has shown this different scent by the image of coconuts and jasmine petals with the purple coloured text that represents jasmine. All the text and lid is in this colour instead of the dark pink like the other scent.

Radox has a different design because it is a different brand. This particular version of Radox is green because it is to make your skin feel energised. Green is a bright exciting colour so it fits the theme of the product being energising. The green leaves, images and everything green matches the product and allows for the white writing to stand out.

The Herbal Essence logo at the top of each bottle, matches the name of the brand by having herbal and natural essences around the logo. Having leaves and colours giving the feel of natural beauty.

I also like how they have customised all of the colours to suite the scent of each bottle.

Again, Herbal Essences shampoo and condition looks like a successful brand due to the professional layout of each bottle and colours matching the scents. You can see each colour, logo and image has been thought out and designs which intrigues the audience into wanting to buy it rather than a cheaper bottle that does not look as good.

Primary Research - My advertisements in locations

This image shown on the left I made in Photoshop to see how my advertisement would look in this location. To find the backing image, I typed into Google Images 'public advertisements' and it came up different advertisements and banners that I put straight into Photoshop. I then used the quick selection tool to select all of the image advertised originally, I erased this image once selected, I then put my advertisement image in Photoshop and put the layer underneath the background and dragged it into place. This was done very quickly as I was just testing to see what my poster would like in locations.

I personally really liked the outcome of this image as it really suits the background. It looks professional and somewhat creative but not over the top. I think it is very attractive.

I then asked my peer assessor: Megan Bush what she thought of my poster in this location and she had said that the image really suits the background due to the professionalism of the poster and environment. She said that it looks like it was made by a professional and it suits the business client.

For this poster, I did not use my final Lego poster image which is in a different colour and has thicker tops to the bricks. Because the white outline of each brick is so thick, it made the tops of the bricks very small. In my latest edit, I made the tops of the bricks a lot bigger which looked better. I think if I used my final Lego poster or experimented with a few colours of the final posters, this image would look a lot better.

I personally really like this image in an environment although it does not particularly match the environment that it is putting in as it is very dirty and not hygienic which does not match a professional poster. If I were to create a Lego poster again, I would try a few more designs as I am not overly confident I like this final outcome as it is not too professional. I prefer the poster shown above with the black Lego character.

The image shown on the left was created to see what my poster would look like on a bus stop. My survey analysis showed that a public area like a bus stop, makes people take in their surroundings a lot more. This is because people are made to stand and wait with nothing to do while they wait for their bus so the only thing they can do while waiting, is look at the advertisements and colours that catch their eye. This is why I have presented my poster on this image, to see what it would look like if it was actually advertised here.

I believe that this is a success due to the advertisement looking professional in a public area. I believe that if people were standing here, they would find the poster very attractive. Especially children.

This image is another poster shown in real life environments, only I wanted to take the scale up a notch to see how a poster would look at this scale. I believe it does work but, it would look much better on a smaller scale with this type of poster.  I believe the poster looks professional and simple but on a big scale like this, the banner should be much more colourful with big headlines and lots going on to attract someone's attention. Something professional and simple, looks better on a smaller scale due to it looking attractive. Kids are the ones who are mostly likely to see big banners over motorways like this due to the adult driving. Kids are usually the ones in the car with nothing to do so something bright, colourful with pictures would stand out to them. I think this poster is in the wrong environment but, it was useful to experiment and see this as I may have not known this is in the wrong environment before. It allowed me to see what target audience's there are in different locations.

Survey Monkey Primary Research -https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/ZTHHJN3

For the first question of my survey, I asked what type of advertisement poster would interest the audience. I did this because I wanted to know the most popular type of poster that people aged 17-20 prefer. As we can see from the results, a factual or professional poster is most liked over something not so serious.

This means that poster are most successful when they are professional, stylised, thought out with colour themes and layout and minimal. Minimal images and headlines, a professional styled font and direct message.

I can also see that the second most popular type of poster is a family, child-like poster which means the professional/factual poster I am going to make, will need to be engaging also.

This question taught me that a range of colours on a poster intrigues the audience instead of one or two bold colours. The more colourful the poster is, the better it will intrigue the audience to be engaged rather than looking at their surroundings.

Something I did learn from YouTube, was that you should never use the colour black when making a poster. Always use an off grey colour because black is too harsh on the eye. Pastel and lighter colours always give off a better effect than bold colours in your face. Unless you have to use bold colours because you are catching the attention span of young children.

As shown by the bar chart, the most common place to take in your surroundings and posters is at a bus stop. When you have nothing to do, your just waiting for the bus that is usually always late, having a bright poster in large standing out, will catch the audience's attention because they will have nothing else to do but look at it if it is very intriguing. As most of the public had said, if anywhere, this would be the place to advertise your business.

This question was asked so I could get an understanding of whom actually pays the most attention to the font. Is it the font that intrigues the audience or is it the colour and images? well, as you can see from my response to this question, the font is not the most crucial part of the poster. For an audience aged between 17-20, they tend to look beyond the font and more towards the main contain of the poster. The mixture of pastel colours and scheme, the headlines and images of what the poster contains rather than the detailed look into the font.

The idea behind asking this question, was to find well known graphic artists that the public may know of. This way I can research into artists like Saul Bass and find out why he is so popular and what makes him popular. I looked into his style of work and found that he creates propaganda posters that has subliminal message from either the past, events or messages into what the film is about. This was useful research for me as it allowed me to see why this artist was recognisable by a member of the public. Others did not know of any graphic artists.

This question was just to justify that the poster advertising my own bath bomb business, should be fairly simplistic rather than being very busy with a mixture of colours, images and headlines. I want the business to look professional and creative but not over the top because the target audience is for young to middle aged adults so they will not want something that is too busy and childish looking because it will not intrigue them to buy the product if it is not professional. It means they will second guess buying a product because the products could be made cheaply if the advertising is looking cheap. The advertisements will reflect off of what the products are like.

This question was to collect a vary of colour schemes that the public feel would go well together. The colour is the main influence of a poster so for me to find out what colours the public like and would find attractive in the bath bomb context, is super useful because I know the audience will be attracted to my advertisements and posters because they have said that they like those colours. Most of the colours that the public that has answered my survey, had said they like pastel blues, yellows and red or them type of colours. They would work well with a sweet bath bomb.

Advertising a product practice

This is one of my final test edits that I have mad to practice poster creations. The poster may have worked better with the same coloured thick border with the title moved over a little, but as it is, I do really like it.

I think that this poster looks professional by the light grey coloured background instead of a harsh black and the same coloured text and title as the product. It makes the product speak for itself and it looks colour co-ordinated which makes the poster look more professional.

Further Illustrator Practice

This is my friend's Instagram profile where some of my inspirations, ideas and knowledge came from.

If I were to do the screen recording again, I would look how to make it in much better quality as it is very blurry and hard to see. I am not sure the reason behind this as I did not notice it when it had exported.

With the help from my friend; Jim Warner who does graphics design, he showed me how to do the few basic things on Illustrator and this screen recording is me creating my own quick and simple designs with the knowledge of Illustrator that he showed me. He taught me how to use the live paint tool, how to crop your a4 page for the grid to be even, how to show the grid and snap to grid to get exact measurements and finally, how to make simple shapes and logo designs using basic shapes. This experimentation roughly took me an hour but with this time-lapse I have made, I sped it up to 10 minutes so that it is not too long but I have something to refer back to when I need to do one of these skills again. This was extremely helpful to me as it allows me to experiment and practice with Illustrator with the basic knowledge I now have.
