Unit 12 - Specialist Study

Analysing Audiences

Initial Mind Maps

Note: If you find the initial mind maps and images below that are pictures I have taken hard to read, you can zoom right into the writing which makes it easier.

Market, Inspirations, Production

Bibliography

Shown below is further ideas and project titles I have come up with myself for either Digital Graphics or Visual Effects:

The reason in which I have not done a few pages on Cinematography which was my third idea, is because I had no further ideas or inspiration for this project. I did my initial mind map for cinematography but, there is not too much I can do for that project idea due to not having any actors, props or budget for location. Therefore, I am very limited on what I can do in terms of cinematography.

Focus Group:

Questions:

1. What is your age?

2. What is your gender?

3. Looking at these images, what angle do you find the most engaging?

4. Have you ever seen visual effects anywhere? If so, where?

5. Does visual effects interest you?

6. Do you pay much attention to poster advertisements?

7. Why might you pay attention to poster advertisements and why might you not?

8. What two pastel colours do you think represents bath bomb products the most?

Analysing my results from the focus group:

I believe the focus group went very well. I sat down with a group of 20 people who were all friends and family and I asked them questions about all 3 of my ideas. I also had a couple pieces of people with the images on shown above and got their opinions.

For the first question, their ages ranged from 20-45 and they were mostly all female barring two males.

For the third question, 4 out of the 20 people said that they prefer the image bordered in the colour hot pink because they liked the eye level angle, the composition and the fact she is centre focus. The 4 people whom said they preferred this image was three women aged 21, 26 and 34, and one male aged 42.

10 women aged 20, 45, 39, 32, 36, 41, 29, 44, 43, 37 picked the image outlined blue as the image they find most engaged with because they like how it is slightly closer to the camera than the image outlined pink and they like how the character is slightly off centre and is looking away from the camera. Her being closer and at this angle, makes us more engaged with what she is doing because we do not feel far away and disconnected.

2 women aged 28 and 23 said they like the image outlined black because it is nice and close to the camera.

The other three women aged 44, 27 and 37 like the image outlined green because it is far enough away from the colour for us to see her actions.

Lastly, the other male aged 40 said he preferred the image outline yellow because it is so close that we can see the emotion which makes us engaged with her face.

This question allowed me to see what angles are most popular and liked for the potential product I will be creating.

For the fourth question, the majority of my peers said they have seen visual effects but mostly in action adventure films. Some films that they recognise with CGI in was Game of Thrones, Star Wars and The Matrix. These films were CGI heavy.

For the fifth question, most of them said that they aren't into visual effects that much as they see it as a younger appealing feature to the film however, it can make the film very satisfying if it looks natural.

For question 6, every one of them said that they do take note of advertisements that suite them only. The age group 21-30 said that they take note of advertisements that are more suited to them like hair and beauty products or sales, whereas the age group 31-45 said that they like advertisements for products that are useful to them which are more like general household gadgets rather than hair and beauty. These answers very much tied into the next question because they had all said that they don't specifically look for advertisements but if an advertisement appeals to them, then they will take note and remember that product advertised and may go looking for it.

For the very last question, surprisingly, the age group 20-25 said that they much prefer a bright mixture of colours advertising bath bombs because it would intrigue them. The age group 26-30 said that they like more subtle colours but perhaps a mixture of them and finally, the age group 31-45 said that they like pastel colours in small moderation for it to look professional and not over done.

To conclude, I believe that this focus group helped me with my primary research very much as I was able to gather a wide range of opinions for each of my three ideas for my FMP. I have been able to look at not just young people's views but older people's also so that I know what type of products would have what age ranged audience. The age may then imply certain requirements for the product like the colour, layout, headlines and topics of a poster, advertisement, short film or more. This taught me a lot more about target audience and how the audience ties in with different products on the market and how I can make a successful product with this information.

Updated creative proposals for each idea:

Graphics Design

Cinematography

Visual Effects

I decided that the written proposals I had created for each of my ideas was too boring and dull. You want the proposal to reach out to higher powers to allow for your project to take place. They need the proposal to be short and to the point so it doesn't waste their time. It also needs to look professional but a little change in layout and colour may make it easier for the person to read my proposal as it is not as boring and dull as the ones I created beforehand.

Shown here is my final Proposal that I will be taking forward into my Final Major Project. After the evaluation and advice from my peers, I have decided to branch my project out and including video and photo work to attract a wider target audience. I will still be doing graphics design but my project will be a lot larger and bigger with more products to showcase. The projects purpose is to make this a fully-functioning business with its own website or social media accounts.

Test Experimentation Plan

Thursday 1st March (10:15-11:45)

This will be the date for my very first experimentation of creating a poster for the company Lego. I will be creating this experimentation within this time limit on this day which is during my college lesson. I plan to come up with several ideas and make screen recording as evidence of my editing.

Tuesday 6th March

This is not a college day so I am unsure on a time but during this day, I will be finishing my Lego edits and experimentations. I will be editing a Lego package design also.

Saturday 10th March

I plan to create edits for a Monsters inc. Poster. I think that this project will be able to gain my experience and confidence within Photoshop and Illustrator.

Tuesday 13th March

Today I will be creating poster designs for The Emoji movie. I will be trying out drop shadow experiments with the title and I will be experimenting with landscape and portrait orientation posters. The target audience is very young so I plan to use bright minimal colours and a big title to engage the audience.

Peers Feedback on Experimentation

My peer Chloe Biddis said that out of all the products I created shown above, she prefers the Lego poster with dark blue bricks. She said that she prefers this poster out of them all because it is the  'most creative' and 'professional looking'. She said it was clever how I used the exact blue that the company uses on their products. It is more professional to do this instead of randomly picking a shade of blue as not every shade of blue may be recognisable by the audience of the company. She said that her least favourite product was the Osis product poster because it was a little too plain and boring. She said that I could have added in one more colour or a few while keeping the main pink as a base to promote the product. It would make it look more exciting.

My second peer Megan Bush said that she prefers the Monsters, inc. poster because it looks the most professional. She likes the characters that are involved on the poster and she likes like the layout of the characters and the text. She said that the organisation of the poster looks professional. She said to improve the poster further, maybe make it more creative by adding more colours and characters as the target audience is very young.

Theoretical and Technical problems with this project

Throughout this project, I did not come across many problems with my ideas or experimentations. The only problems I came across within my experimentations, was the fact that I have never used Illustrator before so learning this myself was very hard. I started watching YouTube tutorials for help but most of them that I watched, I found really boring so I just decided to face the software head on and just experiment with the tools myself. I asked my friend for help and he showed me the basic tools and know how of creating the basics but I taught myself the rest. Screenshots definitely helped me remember how I created something. I think it is always hard when you are trying something new, whether it is a new software or advertising or creating products you have never create d before, I think it just takes time and practice. I am not completely happy with the Lego product I made in Illustrator for the first time, but, it was my first attempt so I am sure to practice and get better.

A had a few problems with my initial ideas I had for my project as I do not have a budget or most equipment for the product idea to come out the way I want. This was with the music video product. To create the music video or tv episode within my cinematography idea, I would need a heavy weighted stabiliser so the shots are not shaky, I would need a production team and multiple cameras to be able to shoot different angles and I would need production lights or light boxes. This equipment is not cheap meaning it would not be easy for me to get this equipment to shoot my product off of college campus.

One last problem I came across was with my After Effects experimentation product. I filmed a few little clips of my nan's eyes that I wanted to motion track. My idea was for the veins in her eyes to slowly change colour as if she is being possessed or transforming into some sort of super human or evil character. I 3D motion tracked both eyes, created masks for both eyes and animated each masks which took a very long time. All I had left to do was add colour saturation and effects to the masks on the eyes. Unfortunately I did not have time to do the last bit so I saved it to finish another day and when I came back to it, all of the files and clips for the project was gone. I must have deleted it all some how and forget what it was. This was a big problem for me as I could not finish or upload the final video to YouTube or my Wix page. I could have started again but the project took me so long that I needed to move on with my project otherwise I would have been too far behind. For proof of this project, I did manage to save my screen recording I made a while before this project so I created a time-lapse and uploaded that. Learning from this mistake, next time I will be sure to save a new folder on my desktop and make two copies on two hard drives so I have all of the clips and project file saved. I will also remember to name the file with the correct project title instead of just saving it under any title.

To conclude, I did not come across many problems or risks with this project only the After Effects file and having to teach myself how to design. For my FMP, I will try and watch plenty of tutorials on YouTube and look at image tutorials I found on Pinterest.

Primary Research Evaluation

I think that my primary research was extremely useful in this project as it allowed me to narrow down my three individual topic ideas to one topic. I still have several ideas for the Digital Graphics Design topic but my primary research has allowed me to eliminate Cinematography and Visual Effects from my FMP.

To start off my primary research, I went to Chatham town Centre to take some pictures relevant to my graphics design idea. I took pictures of posters, advertisements, magazine/record covers and promotions. I then collated my images together and analysed them.

This initial primary research shoot was really beneficial to me as it allowed me to see what else is out their on the market in terms of advertising. Some of the images I took was relevant to my Lego project and some of them was just advertising products that I analysed and compared so I could see a range of different products that ave different target audiences.

Following on from this, I went to Bluewater Shopping Centre to take plenty more pictures of advertisements and promotions to analyse and compare. I made contact sheets of each shop I went in and took photos of so I could compare packaging, advertising and branding with each of these shops I took pictures in. This really helped me as I could see how each shop has their own unique font, headlines, titles and colour scheme to promote the brand. This also allowed me to see different target audiences with different products and how these brands met their target audience requirements. For example, Lego met its target audience requirements by the shop being full of bright colours, bold text and font, little writing and models of toys everywhere to represent fun. In comparison to a jewellers that was much more elegant and classy looking with the glass cabinets and fancy font.

Next, I decide to create a questionnaire for my digital graphics design idea. This hand-made questionnaire allowed me to gather opinions on colour schemes, font, layouts and images for my target audience and potential product. I then made pie charts to display the data I had collected from this questionnaire.

Following on from my questionnaire and analysis, I made a survey for each of my ideas to ask more in-depth questions about shots and angles, their opinions on my product ideas and the principles of each topic area. This was really helpful to me also as it allowed me to gain opinions and requirements from my target audience for each idea I have for my FMP. From the results of my survey, the public had said that they prefer my graphics design idea the best as it is more interested and suited to their age group. It was mostly women that was more excited about design and advertising than men as the women understood colour schemes a lot more. However, 60% of men answering my survey also agreed that they preferred the advertising concept idea the best.

I also did a little primary research from a book that I had found in the college library. It teaches me all about the software Illustrator and how I can create a certain type of look or magazine cover. I took pictures of the pages I found most useful and critically evaluated them. I found this research extremely useful as it gave me in-depth step by step guides to follow to create multiple effects and producing using this software.

Lastly, I did multiple experimentations of making movie posters. I pretended that the company Disney, was my client and I re-created many movie posters for this client to advertise several different movies. It allowed me to practice with the software Illustrator for the first time and it allowed me to see what I can really create with my imagination put to the test. All of the jpg and png images I used were extracted from Google Images and I just practiced putting them all together in a colour scheme and layout that I had made up. I tried to make them all look professional and creative while I just explored the principles of graphics design. I found this extremely fun and I could not stop making experimentations of different movies as I loved using the software.

When I had a rough understanding of the software, I decided to create my own poster for the company Lego but with no jpg or png images from other websites. The only item I used that was already made was the Lego logo which I had to use as I was pretending that Lego was my client for the day. Other than that, I made my own Lego bricks using Illustrator and I created a little artwork of the Lego brick wall tumbling down. It was easy and simple and I made a screen recording of this so I could refer back to how it was created.

The very last part of my primary research I did was screen recording of multiple artists work. I looked at people like Shepard Fairey and Tom Whalen and I made a screen recording of me scrolling through their websites and portfolio of projects they have created. They both really inspired me and they had so much work on their websites that I thought their was no better way then to make a screen recording of how passionate I was when looking at their work.

In conclusion of my primary research, I believe that it went very well as most of my project was conducted first hand. My primary research taught me a lot about what each of my ideas entails and how I may go about doing them. I discovered that when really researching and seeing other products already on the market for my cinematography and visual effect ideas, that I was not too passionate about experimenting or looking into it further. I found my mind starting to lose interest in the primary research as it was not typically something I wanted to do. However, when conducting primary research for the digital graphics idea, I found myself very passionate and interesting in every little piece of research I had done. I did not get bored when taking pictures of advertisements in public places for reference and I did not get bored analysing them and finding out more about the basics of graphics design. My primary research mainly allowed me to ask different age groups about their interests in graphics design.

Secondary Research Evaluation

My secondary research started out by looking up the history of each of my three ideas. After I had created my mind maps, looking at the history of how graphics design, cinematography and visual effects started out, was crucial for me as it allowed me to know where my journey starts with each of these topics and how I would develop my skills in the industry. The graphics design history research allowed me to understand how graphics started out as cave drawings. Cave drawings always told a story and had meaning. This then developed into signs and navigations that allowed for people to see an image or sign and instantly know what is going in for example do not enter or no dogs allowed. This meant that I could start out my journey with graphics by creating images with meaning. Simple and straight to the point.

After researching this, I decided to look into different artists in the industry within the topic I knew I wanted to do which is graphics design. I found a contact that I had made from the level 3 graphics design course in MidKent Medway campus who I kept in contact with and learned a lot from and I researched other artists in the industry. I looked at how they got to do what they do with the universities and places they studied at and to me it was really fascinating. I learnt that no one is an expert at first. It comes with time and practice. As long as you love what you are doing and you stick with your passion, you will become better over time.

With this said, I wanted to find the basics and the principles of graphics design. Because I have never done it before and I have never been taught, so I figured I would need to teach myself the basics of how it is done. This is when I created a blog from all of the tutorials and images showing the principles of graphics design that I had found on Pinterest. I then analysed these and followed them when I was experimenting with movie posters.

To take this further, I decide to do some research from a book. Finding the book was my primary research but looking through it and analysing it I decided was my secondary research as it was a source of information that is not first hand. I analysed the tutorials and information this book told me and I created a blog that I could refer back to.

Next for my secondary research, I looked into what is on the market for all three of my ideas. I looked at products from my artist researched and I analysed them, I looked on Pinterest and created my own board of inspirations and I made a screen recording of this, I created multiple other mood boards of inspirations and finally I contrasted and compared magazine covers. I looked at how different magazines have different target audiences. I looked at Mario and different video game magazine covers and what the magazine cover says about them, I then compared these to Vogue magazine covers and I analysed what it said about them. This really helped me analyse target audience to see the importance of the principles not only in graphics design but cinematography, visual effects and any other product. The target audience is what makes the product successful so you need to look at the requirements the target audience, stereotype, gender or age that you think your audience will come under. You need to make those links or the audience will become confused with the aim of the product.

With this said, I decide to analyse products further. I analysed advertisements and branding from pictures I found on Pinterest, I analysed pictures I had taken in my house to see what the branding says about them and finally, I looked into social media advertising. I found a company that is based in America who are advertising their park. They have a really big nature park that the customer would buy a ticket for and they have cafes and restaurants there so you can camp and have dinner in the places they have to offer. They have made leaflets and posters advertising their park and they have made their own business profile on Facebook so people can navigate and find the park. Researching this helped me understand the concept of leaflets and business social media profiles. I like how it looked professional because of the font, the colours and timeline pictures on there that made the place stand out. I also liked how they organised the leaflet in terms of the layout and images. I analysed this so I could take notes for when I potentially make leaflets and promotions for my business as part of my FMP.

To link my target audience analysis from comparing products, I made a word document all about analysing audience in terms of stereotypes, looks, like and dislikes, beliefs, age or gender. I did a lot of research on this and I talked about who my target audience would be for all three of my ideas. This helped me look deeper into the types of audiences there are and who I would need to aim my requirements of my product towards.

In conclusion, my secondary researched helped me gain extra information about audience and people who are already out their in the industry creating products similar to my ideas. Analysing what is on the market such as other films and breakdowns of the films on YouTube, advertisements and other products on the market, allowed me to see what is really out there in the industry and how I can make my product different. With my experimentation, I want to develop my own style of work. I want to be individual with my likes and dislikes and I want to be able to gather inspiration from what is on the market but develop my own way of editing. This is what I am going to look more into within my FMP.

Quantitive and Qualitative Research Evaluation

For my quantitative research during this project, I made a survey for each of my three ideas. This allowed me to gain a wide range of opinions for what my target audience age range think of my ideas and what features they prefer within the idea. For example, I found that pastel colours fit with a older teenage/adult audience. When video editing, longer cuts and statistical information is aimed towards a older audience while jump cuts and match cuts are used for a younger audience.

For further quantitive research, I did artist research which was very factual to find out their past and how they got to where they are now which definitely inspired me to follow my passion. It taught me that everyone has a starting point and only with determination to follow your passion that you can get to the level you want to.

I then did plenty of experimentation for visual effects and graphics design. This taught me the principals of the subject and how I can develop my skill with practice.

For my qualitative research, I created a focus group that allowed me to discuss each of my three ideas with members of the public. I made a focus group with my friends and family of all age groups and I discussed each of the questions I had wrote down and I made notes of what the people in the group had said. This focus group had allowed me to discuss my ideas and thoughts of what I could potentially do for my FMP.

I made clear observations of advertisements and products that already exist on the market and I took pictures of these to analyse. This really helped me with organisation and layout of how things have been promoted and advertised.

I have done plenty analysis and conclusions of the work and research I have put together. My analysis are the most crucial part of any work that I produce as it allows me to reflect and look back on what went well and what didn't.

Final Evaluation

As a whole, I believe that my specialist study project went very well. Before this project, I was really uncertain of what I wanted to do. I knew I loved media and I wanted to pursue a career in the media industry, but I was unsure of what area to go into. At the beginning of this year, I loved Visual effects. I was almost certain that this is what I wanted to. I loved how technical it was, I loved the outcomes of it, I loved how different it was than anything else I had seen to do with films before and most importantly, I loved the softwares such as Blender and After Effects. I liked how much more I had to learn with the softwares and the industry and it excited me. However, when I thought more about my career, I was unsure if this was the definite path that I wanted to take. Their were three possible routes I had in mind for my career pathway. I have always loved films, short films, tv episodes and music videos and the cinematography side of the products has always interested me. I studied Media at GCSE and even then I loved learning about the camera angles, the mise-en-scene, the characters, the background and the filming of it. So I knew this was a possible option for my FMP therefore I decided to look deeper into it during my specialist study.

As I said before, I since the beginning of last year, I have loved visual effects and I thought that this was going to be my career route therefore I made it the second idea for my FMP.

Last but certainly not least, I chose graphics design as my final idea. It was only recently that I discovered graphics design through a friend and ever since, it has been my passion. Experimenting and creating in Photoshop and Illustrator is my favourite part about Graphics Design. I find it interesting, fun and I am very passionate about it. I do not like drawing and painting or art much but, I love the digital side of graphics. I love making minimal posters, movie posters, branding, packaging, logos and propaganda. Ever since this project, I have created my own Graphics Design professional instagram to showcase my work. I have not uploaded much on it yet but, I will have my own logo and highlights of the work I have created on their eventually. Shown below is the account I have created.

To summarise, this project has allowed me to identify the exact field I would like to go into after this year of college. This would be doing digital graphics, advertising and digital social awareness within social media. After this final year of my course, I would like to find an apprenticeship within advertising or marketing on a level 3 for two years to get experience in the industry, and hopefully become more independent. After this, I would like to do a three year degree potentially in Norwich doing digital graphics and social awareness. I may even do a Masters after this to gain more qualifications.

I came to this conclusion by practicing, experimenting and watching YouTube tutorials all about the software Photoshop and Illustrator which I have at home. My friend who has completed a level two and level three course on graphics design at the Medway campus, has also shown me a lot of the basics.

Coming back to this project, I think my primary research within Graphics Design, helped me identify my specific area the most as it allowed me to practice and see what area of the industry I find the most interesting. However, I am still keeping my options open as I do love other areas such as video advertising, drone flying and video editing.

The most crucial part of my research I think was definitely finding inspirations. Having inspirations and other artists that you look up to, allows you to spread your creativity further by seeing what the softwares are capable of, gaining ideas and being inspired and passionate about other people's work. It only makes me strive to become a better artist myself so watching other artists grow and become better, helps me gain ideas and influences.

If I were to do this project again, I would maybe extend my experimentation, primary and secondary research on my other two ideas. It is obvious that I am a lot more into the graphics design idea as I have completed the most work in this chosen area however, I should have maybe tried a little harder and been more passionate about the other ideas two as the work is very little compared to my main idea.

To conclude, I believe that this project was very useful to me as I have been able to experiment and practice in each of the three areas of study that I wanted to do. Before this project I did not know what I wanted to do. This project has brought me on a journey from not knowing about media at all, to wanting to do visual effcts, to finally wanting to do graphics design.

Specialist Study Presentation

Shown above is my presentation for my Specialist Study. To evaluate, I believe that my presentation went very well as I was able to speak with ease and confidence and I knew my project without having to keep looking at my presentation. I decide to use a online software called Microsoft Sway instead of the usual Microsoft Powerpoint as it allowed my presentation to be original and creative. Nearly everyone uses Powerpoint but I think it is very basic and there is not much you can do with it in terms of showing your creativity. Therefore I used Sway. I liked that I kept talking and did not run out of things to say and I liked how I scrolled down my presentation, highlighted with the mouse and clicked on my experimentations to show them up close.

However, I feel that it could have gone a lot better. To improve for my next presentation, I will gain more confidence and not be so embarrassed or go so red and I will try to speak with more enthusiasm and confidence. The few days before the presentation when I was practicing, I was very confident and enthusiastic and I was moving around to engage the audience. This was done in front of my family.

As soon as I saw the camera and the microphone I had to speak into as well as all of the people watching, my nerves kicked in. I wanted my presentation to be relaxed and somewhat humorous as I really wanted to engage them but I lost a little confidence as my nerves kicked in when speaking. I feel that if I had done this more and practiced it much more in front of more people, it would have gone better.

I need to be able to speak loud and clear and look at the audience more with enthusiasm and passion to engage them rather than staying one place behind the stand where the laptop is.

Looking at other people's presentations definitely helped me as I was able to see what I need to do in my presentation like be more confident. Moving around would definitely help build my confidence.

Amy Bombone, Freya Sage, Chloe Wallace and Megan Bush inspired me with their presentations as I like their enthusiasm and confidence when speaking. Some of them also used hand gestures to emphasise their points and images.

Reviewing my peer feedback from Lee Gavin, he told me that I should consider slightly changing my final idea being Graphics Design. This was because it does not take long to make a poster. It will take one day maximum to make a graphics design poster which will not be enough for my final major project. It may be what I want to do in the future but it should not be what I do for my final major project as it is too simple and easy and it does not challenge my ability. At the moment, because my target audience is only 16-18, I either need to branch out to a wider target audience varying my ability or go out and find more people this age so I can gather more primary research. Lee told me that I could look at a few second long videos that Lush has created on their Instagram. I can video the ingredients of bath bombs or the bath bomb exploding in water and different experiments. This can be my more in-depth secondary research. He said that I am obviously really into my graphics idea and I still can create posters and graphics but maybe branch out a little further with various medias to explore to give me a bigger and better final major project. Not just graphic posters and advertisements but branding, maybe logos, packaging and wallpapers, make a website or set up social media accounts and photograph the stools and stands we host. Make it into a fully-functioning business. Having professional photographs, videos, advertisements, stools, branding, packaging etc. I can also take a deeper look into Lush for research.

Ross also said that same that I should branch out my study further which will allow me to have a client I have worked for, practice in freelancing but also have experience in graphics which is what I want to do, creating videos and advertising and photography. It will be a much bigger project to fulfil.

As for my actually presentation feedback, Lee said I acted a little nervous when I should have been far more confident and passionate about my work, but, he did like that my presentation looked original with using Sway. The only thing really I needed to change was move more to be less nervous and more confident and the fact that I need to branch out my project more. This is information I will definitely take aboard.

My final Pro Forma for my Final Major Project:

 Final Idea

Sudz

BRIEF: My final idea for my Final Major Project is to make my bath bomb business fully-functioning and professional with its own website and social media pages. The business is called Sudz and this will be my the centre of my upcoming project as it involves different medias such as cinematography, photography and graphics design. I will be making a Facebook and Instagram page, I will have professional photographs of the products, I will be creating stalls in different locations selling the bath bombs and I will take photos and videos of this, I will create a Wix page for the business and finally a logo. I may also create advertisements, posters, leaflets and business cards for the business also so it is creative, professional and it stands out from anything else in the industry.

Shown below are some images and videos I have taken from Lush's Instagram as they are what I aspire to create for my business.

For my project, I am going to be shooting short 30 second videos as shown above which may show the use of the product, the ingredients or the after effects of the product. This will be creative and professional looking which will really draw in the audiences attention.

For the advertisements and promotions, I want the images to be colour co-ordinated and creative, with the use of bright pastel colours to showcase the beauty products.

Shown below are some creative/professional advertisements that I got from Pinterest. This is what I would like to re-create for my Final Major Project as it will really draw in the attention of women aged 17-35 whom is my target audience. For my adverts, I will be using bright pastel colours to show case my bath bombs and beauty products.

Here are some business card inspirations I have gathered from Pinterest. This is what I aspire to do for my project to advertise and promote it. The business cards will be useful to hand out to customers on the different stalls I host on market locations and events I attend to.

Me and my mum create our own stalls on many bootfair places in Leysdown, Gillingham, Rainham and many more places. It allows customers to find out about us, hear more from us by the business cards I will create and also buy products from the stall. I want the cards to look professional, independent in the industry and visually stunning to attract customers. I also want the cards to showcase what the business is.

The business card on the left is one of my favourites because of how colourful and simple it looks. The feathers on the front immediately attracts my attention because of how it fills the whole side of the card and because of how colourful it is. Turn the card over and it has the business name at the top in fancy writing with the most important information on at the bottom.

The business card in the middle shown above is attractive because of the multiple colours and patterns that are pleasing to the eye. The patterns and colours are not over top, they are proportioned nicely, it is pleasing to the eye and it is creative not just plain and boring.

The business cards on the right shows professionalism. It is plain, boring, a little dull and nothing particularly special but the fact that the title is in big and has a special font that matches the rest of the text, it shows how professional and reliable the business is. However it is not too creative or colourful which would not be useful for such a colourful and smelly business that I have.

BannerCreation for Facebook Business Page

Shown to the left is a little leaflet and banner by the company Lush that I got from Pinterest. This is something I would be looking to create for my final project. A banner would be very useful to my business as I would be able set it as my Facebook and maybe Youtube background to make the business look professional.

I really like the look of the Melissa Walsh's style of font as it looks feminine, professional and unique. It is not over the top ad you can read the text unlike other fonts where it is hard to see what it says. I think the font goes really well with the job occupation she has as a copywriter as the text goes nicely together. I do not want to use this exact font for my business as that would be copyright but I would like to look into fonts that go nicely with what the business does and it would fit and look more professional.

For logo inspirations, I took a look onto Pinterest to see different companies logos and creations. However, what stood out to me the most was the simple yet creative font instead of a logo or symbol to represent the business. I think this would be more suited for my capabilities for the business as I am not overly confident with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop to be able to create my own logo from scratch. Not only this but me and my mum have both discussed what logo style we thought would fit the company best and after we had seen the title fonts some people have created on Pinterest, it made us re-think about having a symbol as a logo. We both believed that having our own font style would fit the company best as it would show what type of products we offer and it would look the most professional on our business cards. If the font and the colours are co-ordinated well with bright pastel colours, it could look really attractive so this is what I will be looking into more in my project.

I like these fonts shown above as they fit my business genre much more than something elegant and professional looking. I still want my business logo and font to look professional and reliable but something more creative, colourful, unique and girly in a way, would suit my business much more as the font is pretty just like how the products makes the client feel.

The business cards on the left are for a business named after Tara Smith who is a lash and brow artist. Even though this business does not relate in any way to mine, I really like how detailed and professional she has made her business contact cards. The cards have all of the relevant information on them, they have a colour theme of rose gold and black to compliment the rose gold and finally, the main font and logo matches the rest of the text and information. Everything is in sink which makes her business more reliable and professional meaning potential more clientele.

For the logos shown below, I wanted to look at several logos that people had created for their own freelancing businesses. The logos I have been looking at on Pinterest are creative, professional looking and they make sense. By this I mean you can look at the logo and instantly know what the business is called and what the business does. So the logo makes sense and fit into the business. If I was to create a logo then I would want it to look elegant, colourful mainly using pastel colours, a clear title of the business name; Sudz and attractive to girls and boys.

I found this image off of Pinterest and wanted to include this as part of my research because I love the branding designs. It is colourful, it has patterns and I believe it conveys the theme of bath bombs and explosions very well. I also like how the company has their own names for each product. This may be something my business will look into in the future.
