Presentation Feedback

Updated: Jun 3, 2018

My Interim presentation that I did on Wednesday 18th April, I didn't think went that well. This presentation was in front of the class and my tutor; Lee Gavin. We was also being filmed when doing our presentation.

One of the good points about the presentation was the software I used to create it. I used Microsoft Sway which was something that no one else had used to do their presentation on. I find Microsoft Sway easy to use, creative yet professional also which is why I use it a lot. It s different as you can scroll down for the presentation instead of having separate slides and you can organise your work much more efficiently which is what I like. I also liked circling with the mouse so people can see what I am referencing on the board.

The second good part about my presentation is that I did not get too awkward. I carried on talking throughout the whole presentation and I did not stop to stutter too much so I got through it.

The negatives about my presentation was that I lacked in confidence, I could have dressed a little more appropriately, I should have looked at the audience and moved around and pointed to the board more. This all comes down to confidence within my presentation. I think if I move and interact with the audience more, I would be far less shy trying to hide my face. I think more and having more hand gestures will make me feel more comfortable in the presentation also as I will be able to speak more naturally instead of pausing when thinking of what to say. This is where I need to improve.

I also created 6 questions and handed this out to 6 different people to get their responses on my presentation.

My first question was 'do you think my project being to promote my freelancing business, will be an attainable end result?'. My first response said 'yes as you know what you want to do so it looks like you will get a good result'. My second response said 'yes, you have planned and thought about what you will need to do and what is relevant.' My third response said 'yes, your ideas and research are very good and I think your idea is very achievable.' My forth response then said 'yes, it is a good idea and you have enough time to do it'. My fifth response said 'yes, as you have researched in depth around this idea and a freelancing business is more flexible as you can expand on different ideas.' My sixth response said 'yes. I think you can do this project well.'

To summarise my responses for my first question, my peers believe that I am able to do my project as I am passionate about it, have done in depth research for it and I should have enough time to do. My peers believe that it is a good idea and would be a great outcome.

My second question was 'is there any advice you would give me to make my project more professional to fit in the industry?'. My first response was 'you could go further and put your own twist on the video'. My second response was 'I think you should make sure that your research will support and reflect the style choices in your work.'

My third response was 'maybe collect a bit more research from different brands so you know about your competition.' My forth response said 'I think the idea is already professional and it is personal to you'. My fifth response said 'research more around different ideas around different businesses and maybe email professionals to get some advice,' My sixth answer said 'make a nice logo'.

To summarise my responses for this question, my peers have suggest to take my project even further by researching around the idea, researching into products related to my theme and to make a nice logo to sell the business. This is the responses I have gotten for my peers which I believe to be very helpful. It has allowed me to take a new direction for my project meaning I can expand and research more in depth as it would relate and develop my business.

My third question was 'did my presentation attain a clear concept that you understood?'. My first response said 'yes it was structured well and it had pictures to show us'. My second response said 'yes, it was clearly laid out which helped the audience follow what you were saying.' My third response said 'yes it was very clear and flowed well.' My forth response said 'yes, it was easy to understand'. My fifth response said 'yes, as I was able to clearly read the concepts on your initial idea. I also think you have researched in depth around this including your test shots.' My sixth response said ' yes. I like how your doing business cards, posters etc.'

To summarise my responses for this question, every one of my peers had said that it was clear and easy to understand because I had a clear concept for the project, clear visions with what my final outcomes are, and clear visions for the future. My peers told me to obtain these clear visions, I should research in depth all around my business including similar businesses in the industry.

My forth question was 'do the images that I have taken of my products, look professional enough for you to be intrigued and want to buy them?'. My first response says 'yes they look professional'. My second response says 'yes'. My third response says 'yes, they could be brightened up a bit to make the colours pop'. My forth response says 'yes, I like the ones in the studio, you could try editing'. My fifth response says 'yes, as it shows what product you are selling in a more clear and professional way. You have researched into different companies such as Lush.' My sixth response says 'yes they look really good.'

To summarise my responses for this question, my peers really liked the outcomes of my photos, to improve them, I could try editing naturally to make the images look slightly more professional. This feedback helped me due to me now knowing how to improve my outcomes.

My fifth question was 'did I seem enthusiastic during my presentation?'. My first response was 'not all the time but when talking about your idea you was'. My second response said 'you could have been more enthusiastic when presenting your concepts'. My third response says 'yes you seemed passionate about your idea'. My forth response says 'you could have been a little more enthusiastic and next time try and engage the audience more'. My fifth response says 'yes, but maybe next time try to stand in front of the audience to show open body language however, you were enthusiastic and passionate about your idea.' My sixth response says 'yes, but you did not look at the audience at all.'

To summarise my responses for this question, my peers said that yes I was enthusiastic and passionate about my idea but, I did not look at the audience or speak with confidence. I need more confidence and to look and speak to the audience more. This may come with practice.

My sixth question was 'is there anything you would change or suggest that I done differently for my final idea?'. My first response was 'no nothing'. My second response was 'no'. My third response was 'no'. My forth response was 'no'. My fifth response was 'no, just research more into your idea, maybe take test shots and contact professionals and research into more companies such as body shop'. My sixth response was 'no'.

To summarise my responses for this question, the only advice they really gave me to do differently for my final idea was to look deeper into my research.
